About the International Conference of Future Cardiothoracic Surgeons (ICFCS)

The 1st International Conference for Future Cardiothoracic Surgeons (ICFCS 2026) is a student-led, collaborative initiative bringing together aspiring surgeons from across Africa, Europe, and North America. 

This pioneering event aims to create an inclusive, accessible, and high-quality educational experience centered on the fields of cardiothoracic surgery.

Jointly organized by:

A pan-African student-led organization dedicated to education, mentorship, and research in cardiothoracic surgery.

A student-led American network focused on fostering interest and training in thoracic surgery

A Dutch student initiative providing extracurricular education and research opportunities in cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery.

Vision and Objectives

Vision: To build a global network of future cardiothoracic surgeons through equitable access to education, mentorship, and collaboration.

Objectives:

  • Provide accessible and high-quality educational sessions led by surgeons, fellows, and residents.
  • Foster international collaboration and peer exchange among medical students and trainees.
  • Offer practical exposure to fundamental surgical skills and procedures through live and recorded workshops.
  • Promote academic excellence through an abstract competition and presentation platform.
